The hijacking of the “British ship” by the Houthis; Israel held the Islamic Republic responsible

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office released a statement on Sunday calling the Islamic Republic of Iran responsible for the hijacking of a “British ship” in the Red Sea.

According to the statement of Netanyahu’s office, this “British ship” was operated by a “Japanese company” and was hijacked by the Yemeni Houthis according to the decision of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In the continuation of this statement, it is stated that there were 25 crew members from Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Philippines, and Mexico, and no Israeli citizens were among the abducted.

The statement of the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office continues: “This is another terrorist act by the [Islamic Republic] of Iran, which indicates the escalation of the [Islamic Republic] of Iran’s aggression against the citizens of the free world and creates international consequences about the security of the world’s shipping lanes.”

The Israeli army also called the hijacking of the said ship by the Houthis supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran “a very serious incident on a global scale”.

According to the Israeli army, the said ship was on its way from Turkey to India, and all its crew were civilians and non-Israelis.

The ship is owned by the shipping company “Ray” of the Israeli businessman Rami Unger, but there were no Israelis on board. IDF spokesman: “This is not an Israeli ship”, the Prime Minister’s Office: “A ship owned by a British company operated by a Japanese company, on board were crew members from various countries but not Israelis.”

The IDF spokesman confirmed as mentioned that the cargo ship was hijacked without Israelis on board, and said that “this is a very serious incident on a global level. This is a ship that left Turkey on its way to India with an international civilian crew, without Israelis. This is not an Israeli ship.”
